The animal’s body needs to work in harmony to function optimally. Where there is any asymmetry or restriction, a compensation will develop to allow the animal to adapt, and this may be muscular/skeletal or both.
Functioning biomechanically means discomfort and pain in one part of the body may be a result of problems elsewhere in the musculo-skeletal system.
Chiropractic works with the central nervous system, which along with the brain is the master controller of the body.
The spinal cord is protected by vertebrae that make up the spinal column. The vertebrae articulate with each other to allow movement. The central nervous system is held within the brain and the spine and the peripheral nervous system is fed from that. Nerves exit the spinal column between vertebrae and allow transmission of information to stimulate the rest of the body ie muscles and bones.
The aim of treatment is to correct the misalignment of the bones in the skeletal structure to achieve symmetry, which will restore full nerve function and alleviate pain.
Key is the body’s innate intelligence or ability to adapt, change and heal on its own, referred to as vitalism. The treatment aims to initiate and enable messages to flow with reduced inflammation and release nerve impingement.
It does not just deal with back issues but affects the whole body, by using just the hands to make adjustments.
